No matter how much we all love and pamper our hair and carefully treat it with the products that are only the best, have you ever purchased something just because you loved the packaging very much? Yes, I know that we should never judge a book by it’s cover or all that matters is what’s underneath and blah blah blah but in reality, I fell in love with the vibrant orange bottle with the green flip lid. I stared at it as it sat quietly on the shelf confident to be chosen by somebody and lo and behold, I immediately picked it up placed it in my shopping cart. I didn’t even analyze it or look into the ingredients as I do with most other products. It was more of reflex from my side.
After I unpacked my shopping at home and took out the shampoo from my bag, I started analyzing the product and what it’s made of.
Amla: Amla has its roots in traditional Indian medicinal system, commonly known as Ayurveda. The Amla oil in the shampoo is made by drying the Amla fruit and soaking it in oils such as mineral, sesame or coconut oil for 3 to 5 days. Amla contains fatty acids that helps strengthen the hair follicles to condition and improve the hair. Amla oil can penetrate and treat dry and itchy scalp. Other than the fatty acids, it also contains Amla fruit extracts which are rich in vitamin C, Polyphenols, Flavonoids, protein, carbohydrates, minerals, antioxidants and water.
Fruit Vitamins: Fruit vitamins from Apple helps cleanse and smooth-en your hair while preventing dandruff. Pineapple rejuvenates and also cleans the skin. Lemon is extremely essential for preventing dandruff while papaya exfoliates the skin and gets rid off dead skin cells.
Keraphyll: A plant protein complex which is optimized and had been known to help strengthen the hair fiber inside and to coat the surface of the hair.
So overall, that is a huge amount of task to do for a little shampoo bottle. Nevertheless, my hair felt soft and bouncy after using the shampoo. My head felt light and my hair rejuvenated and less greasy. The creamy shampoo has a sweet fruity smell (I guess from all the fruit vitamins) which is very welcoming in the summer. I generally shampoo my hair twice a week although this one can be used everyday(if you have a lot of time you can :P). Although, it’s a pretty good product overall, my hair started to feel a bit rough after using it for a few weeks and I wasn’t happy with it at all and I went back to using Dove. Later on I realized that the complete range includes a shampoo + conditioner + serum and Garnier recommends using the complete formula for treating your hair. Since I have not used the conditioner and the serum I will not judge the product as good or bad. I leave it up to you my dear readers. Have you guys used it? What was your experience? Feel free to share in the comments below.
